Wayfare Tavern

OMG!...One of the things on my bucket list fulfilled....eating at Tyler Florence restaurant. I recently visited San Fransisco, California and ate at the Wayfare Tavern. I took pictures with my Android...no flash! But I had to share.
This bread was like a popover with whipped butter. It was so good.

Scotch Eggs...

Scotch eggs are something I saw on a menu as an appetizer that sounded interesting but I didn't want to order them...wasn't sure if I would like them. So, I decided to make them myself as a test run. What I found out was that Scotch eggs are easy to make, can be more than an appetizer, and I could only eat one. It's just another way to eat sausage and eggs.
Scotch eggs are served with mustard. I chose the honey and Dijon mustard for individual taste.

Columbus, Ohio...

I visited my family in Columbus for Memorial Day weekend. Columbus is such a gem! A great place to visit is German Village. One of our favorite spots is the Book Loft. It's a really neat bookstore that we referred to as the 'Maze'. It's really kooky in a good way.

Remember my dresser....

Well, I know I said I was going to start painting it but I haven't. The truth is, the dresser will be located at the entrance of the my home and I want something more than just a painted dresser with fresh new knobs. So, I started looking for inspiration instead. I know that I want the paint color to be classic and something that will go with any color changes I may do to my living room. So, I picked the color gray. I found one that I absolutely love in the House Beautiful Magazine:

Las Vegas....

I went to Las Vegas for a couple of days for my job. I didn't take my camera but thanks to my Android (cell phone), I was able to capture a few pictures. I stayed at the Mirage Hotel.
This is located in the hotel lobby.

Sink Love.....

It's funny how after you live in a few homes, you learn what you really like and don't like about them. For me, it makes me dream of my perfect 'dream home'. I currently live in what I call a 'cookie cutter' and I'm always looking for ways to spruce it up without going outside the homes worth (which isn't what it use to be with the crashing economy). So, I have to hold myself back from going over board. BUT that doesn't stop me from planning for my next home....final home. I figure that I now know what I like and don't like and thanks to on-line places such as Pinterest and Houzz, I can save pictures and links to sources that I like. Which brings me to the topic of this post...SINKS! Sinks for every room. I never really gave a lot of thought about sinks but when I saw the beauties below, I fell in love. They are a must have...at least in my kitchen.

This was the first picture I saw of the utility or scrub sink being used in the kitchen. It was love at first sight! I also love the color of the cabinets and the window.

Door Love...

I recently mentioned that I will change my front door because it doesn't let in enough light. Well, here is my front door inspiration:

Trip to and from Rochester, Minnesota

The drive to and from Rochester, Minnesota was absolutely beautiful. On the way back home we came up on the aftermath of a hail storm. Thank God it was 'after' the fact.

Bilotti's Italian Village...

While in Rochester, Minnesota, we found a place that has the BEST pizza. Absolutely loved it. The pizza crust was thin but not too thin and the cheese was the last thing to top it. What made the pizza so special was the sauce. And on top of it all, they served a gluten free pizza crust. My husband was able to have pizza for the first time in years. This place made our trip extra special.

Lasagna with Pepperoni!

My husband and I had to take to trip to Rochester, Minnesota this past week. Before leaving, at the kids request, I made them a lasagna. My daughter helped me make it and added a layer of pepperoni on the meat. I must say that it turned out DELICIOUS!

My trip to Paris

Another Paint Color!

I found another paint color for the fireplace by accident. It's Behr paint (Home Depot) Fossil Stone.

Fossil Stone

I've started painting the fireplace and I'm making progress.

Fossil Stone is a nice neutral. It has a hint of green (one of my favorite colors) in it. My paint job is far from over. This is just one coat of paint and as you can see, I'll need to do another.

Fireplace Colors

I found some paint colors for my fireplace brick that I think would compliment the fireplace mantel and my Raffia Cream walls. Listed below are my choices in no particular order.

Windsor, England

While in London, we decided to go to Windsor to watch the changing of the guards. It was extremely cool! Windsor is quite the quaint little town.

Old Dresser

I found this old dresser in my basement and decided to use it in my entryway. I will store my table setting items such as tablecloths, mats, and napkins. But first, I will need to paint it.

Fireplace Project

I've been in my home for six years, which we moved in and setup shop to make it livable but I never 'finished' any of the rooms the way that I want them. So, I've started a project. I figure baby steps...one project at a time and why not blog about it. I've started working on my main floor Familyroom by painting the walls Raffia Cream. I LOVE this color. It really has lightened up the space, which was needed since the room only has one window.

I've decided to tackle the fireplace. The brick surround is the same brick the builder used on the outside of my house. Not very creative, huh? The mantel is wood and I don't plan on changing it.

Vitamin Water

I was never one to remember to take vitamins every day, except for when I was pregnant with my children. But when I was diagnosed with Lupus, my energy levels was always on empty. It was more than being just 'tired'. I always felt like I had just finish running a marathon. Seriously. I tried drinking coffee, which end up being an addiction and I would have about 5 cups a day just to make it through the work day at the office. Talk about crashing when I got home, well...I wasn't fit to do much afterwards. Then one day, I tried Vitamin Water.

London

Pictures I took in London:

Living with Lupus

What is Lupus? Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease. Basically, your immune system attacks your tissues and organs. Lupus is not the same for every person that has it. There are 4 different types of lupus: systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), discoid lupus, drug-induced, and neonatal lupus. I have the most common one, SLE. Lupus can affect many different body systems such as: joints, skin, kidney, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs. To learn more about Lupus visit: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lupus/DS00115

The main thing I want to point out and focus on is "Living with Lupus". Having this disease doesn't have to rule your world, you can still have a life. But don't get it twisted.....there are many complications and risk associated with this disease. However, there are things that you can do (that are in your control) to live your best life possible.

Fireplace Inspiration

I LOVE cast stone fireplaces. Cast stone surrounding is so pretty and elegant. I like the the thickness and the clean lines. I love how it comes in a range of styles. You can go with something totally glamorous and ornate or you can keep it simple. I like it simple.
